Ah yes my friends, the Da Vinci Code has been revealed.
So, am I going to go see it?...no.
I'll wait for the DVD and rent it at the corner store for a buck. That's what I did with Brokeback Mountain (2005) and it was, Mmmm-mmm, worth it!

Back to the cartoon, I did it in a night and a bit, which is great.
I really think I could poop out a few of these a week if I was being $.

No voices this time, I'm not happy with how they turn out when I "do a voice".

I know, I suck.
But hey, at least you got an episode, and we can all thank Da Vinci for that.

It's a little weird, as usual.
Big deal...it's still good.

It has been pointed out to me that my cartoons have gotten all serious and stuff. Not really, ha-ha funny. More grey, pale-greenish, sort of an off-yellow, puke like colour.
So I've decided to go back to my roots and make episode 15 funny.

What's the point of this cartoon?
Well, I might ask back, what's the point of life?
And for that matter, what's the point of fish sticks, little people and the CRTC?
Infact, by asking that question haven't you just proven the need for such a cartoon?
And if that need exists, shouldn't I be the one to deliver it?

So this isn't exactly your typical animated political cartoon.
I read the story on digg.com and I immediately got the idea.

Here is the paragraph that caught my attention...
"Our lifestyles, what we eat, how much we exercise, whether we smoke, may play a role in a chemical switching system that activates or deactivates our genes. There are signs that our behaviour may program sections of our children's DNA, and that how we live may even affect our grandchildren's genes."

So yeah, this one was too good to pass up.
If true I, and most of us, are in deep trouble.

This cartoon started off more abstract. I showed it to my sister and she was a little lost so I decided to add the future scenes.

At this stage of my animation "career" I learn something new every cartoon. Last one was mouth syncing. This time it was controlling music via actionscript.
Learning is an amazing thing, at 6:25 I didn't know...an hour later I did.

I've decided to spill the beans here.
In some of my cartoons I add secret links. I'm thinking not many people see them so I'll put them here (sometimes). Other times I'll make you work for 'em.

Animated Political Cartoon: Episode 12: W VS USA

I did this cartoon in a day and a half.
I'm really trying to push myself with these, I want to see if I can get them done in a day.
I think I can.
Problem is i have a day job and that makes things very difficult.

I'm happy with this one, short and sweet...kind of like a traditional print cartoon.

My one disappointment is with the voice of Bush, not even close.
I can't do voices very well, perhaps software is the answer?

A cartoonist once said (Hi Cam), "voices make or break a cartoon".
I agree...and I've got to work on that.

Animated Political Cartoons: The beginning

I'm not sure I like this, I usually speak with my cartoons, not with words.
You will see why, kant spel and grammar sucks!
We'll see how it goes.

So a few months back I decided to scrap the way I do cartoons.
I wasn't happy with what I was doing and like all good art I was ready to evolve my style.
I've been working with Flash for about 5 years, in a commercial setting, so moving into animated cartoons seemed like a natural fit.
It's only been a few months but I really feel like I've hit my medium.
Animation, sound, interaction...that's where the future is.
Technology is everywhere so it makes sense right?

I've moved away from my old political cartooning site and set up a new one, just for the animated cartoons.

I'm still a little shaky with things but with each cartoon I'm getting better.
I'm excited.
Now enough of this background mumbo-jumbo, onto the posts!
